I finished my two bowls! They are cute and little! The first has dark green stained dots on a quarter of it and it's all covered in clear glaze. The second has white glaze on the outside with different shades of blues and greens creating lines through the inside of the bowl. I'm very happy with how they turned out!
It's my second week back in ceramics since 2013!!
First I'm working on two small bowls, about 3in x 5in. I have made one, and I am currently glazing it. I am having a hard time throwing, but I think that is just because it has been so long. I am getting back into it though so I should be back on track pretty soon! Today I was trying to think of what I should make for my last Theme Choice Project and my multi-wheel projects when I came across a website called Ceramics Daily. I was looking at throwing techniques and saw dry throwing which really confused me, so I clicked on the link and watched the video. Basically, you get clay from the mixer or a bag or whatever and form it into a solid cylinder. Next you stick it on the week as close to center as possible and put a stick tool through the clay vertically to cut off the sides, centering the clay. You then trim the top and add any details to the sides of the clay that you want. After that get a big loop tool and keep scooping clay out of the center of the cylinder. Lastly pull out with a rib tool to make it a bowl. This seems really cool and I want to make it my third theme choice project.
I made a cup with porcelain today for my hand and wheel project! I am going to add flowers! I think it's going to look really good.
This week I plan on cleaning up my blog, finishing my theme projects and writing my theme outline. This is pretty much going to be a "Catch-Up" week for me, but there's only a few more weeks of wet
I made this porcelain bowl yesterday and footed it today. Somehow it got really dry overnight and I had a hard time footing it. I had to use a foam bat because the top is uneven (showing movement) there isn't a foot ring and there are lines all over the bottom. Despite the messiness I still love this bowl because its porcelain!
I threw with porcelain and made a really cool thingy.. The edges curve and go a bunch of different directions to show my theme, movement.
I made my lidded project last week! It was really cool doing the knob kind of lid. I didn't cut the correct angle when throwing the lid so it doesn't fit right but oh well. There was a little crack at the bottom of the knob and when I tried to fix it I pulled he while knob off!! But I reattached it and everything was okay (:
I made a little plate and folded back the corners for a squarish shape! I did a faint swirl in the center so there's two shapes-circles and squares! I really like it although it was hard to foot because of the corners so I sanded the bottom to make it smooth. I think it will make an adorable coaster (:
I was going to make a teacup for my wheel altered, but I cut through while footing. I decided I could turn it into a dome candle holder and cut trees into it. In the middle of cutting my stump, it cracked and broke in half.. This project is not my favorite!!
